Tea & Coffee: Every Cup Made with Care
My teas are part of every day. Each morning I make two cups, and I brew both in my Yoassi tea strainers to avoid microplastics: white or green tea in one, and in the other, my dandelion and moringa tea, which becomes my daytime tea. I care about how I make them, too, so the hot water never touches plastic.

My Daytime Tea
Every morning I cut open a Tadin Dandy Detox tea bag and a moringa tea bag and brew them together in my Yoassi tea strainer. Once it’s brewed, I add a little stevia, pickled habaneros, my lemon pickled ginger (ginger, lemon juice, stevia and a little sumac, blended in my Ninja), Micro Ingredients collagen peptides and a little organic lemon juice. Then it goes into my stainless steel bottle and comes along with me, to errands, to the gym, wherever the Lord is leading me that day. It’s room temperature by then, and I love it that way. You’ll find the collagen on my Supplements page.

Tadin Organic Dandy Detox Tea
This is the dandelion tea I drink every day, and I’ve been drinking it since 2018, when I was diagnosed with end-stage liver disease. The ingredient list is perfect for us. I’d love it if they made it in loose leaf form, so I cut the bags open for my tea strainer. I like to buy the 6-pack.
TIP: It has a gentle natural diuretic effect, which is one of the things I love about it. If you take a water pill, let your team know you drink it.

Handpick Organic Moringa Tea
Moringa tea tastes nice, and it’s helped me with back pain. The moringa tree amazes me. It sustains harsh, dry climates and still thrives, and it reminds me of the resilience GOD created in us. With cirrhosis, we endure a lot, but HE is with us in every circumstance. Look up the moringa tree sometime. It’s amazing!
TIP: When I compare teas, I look at the price per count. For things like pumpkin seeds, I look at the price per ounce.

Uncle Lee’s Organic White & Green Tea
Green tea is one of the most researched drinks in the world. It’s full of antioxidants called catechins, and it has L-theanine, which is linked with a calm, focused kind of alertness. White tea comes from the same plant, picked young as early buds and leaves, and it has a sweeter, softer taste. I love both, but I really love the taste of white tea. Their benefits are very close; white tea just hasn’t been studied as much.

Handpick Organic Japanese Matcha
Matcha is Japanese green tea leaves ground into a fine powder, so instead of steeping the leaves and throwing them away, I’m drinking the whole leaf, and I get more of its antioxidants in every cup. Sometimes I stir it into hot water, then add a little coconut milk and stevia.
TIP: Try a cofftea! That’s what I call a little matcha stirred into my coffee. It’s a fun addition, and it gives me a nice, even alertness and more benefits.

Chantal Enamel Tea Kettle
This is the best way I know to heat water, and it keeps plastic out of the process. It’s durable, it’s charming, and it heats my water right on the stove.
TIP: I fill my kettle with filtered water for the best taste, and I drink spring water through the day. Filters, especially reverse osmosis, take minerals out of the water, and spring water still has them.

Yoassi Stainless Steel Tea Strainer
I have two of these, one for my white tea and one for my daytime tea. Many tea bags are made or sealed with plastic, and hot water can release tiny bits of it into your cup. So instead of giving up my favorite teas, I cut the bags open and brew the tea in these strainers. They work for loose leaf tea, too, so you’re always covered. We can’t avoid microplastics completely, but when we can, it’s definitely the way to go.

Amazon Fresh Organic Whole Bean Coffee
I buy organic whole beans and grind them fresh. Large studies have linked drinking coffee with a healthier liver, including less liver scarring, and it’s full of antioxidants. It helps my digestion, too. On this one listing, you can choose your roast, medium or dark, and how many bags. I love the dark roast!
TIP: I stir my collagen peptides right into my coffee, too.

Amazon Basics Coffee Grinder
Freshly ground coffee beans, fast! It wipes clean easily, and the cord wraps right into the base, so it stores neatly on the counter or in the cupboard.
TIP: Most of my spices come already ground, but if you’d like to grind your own, keep a second grinder just for spices. A mortar and pestle works, too.

Bodum Chambord French Press
This is a reliable way to brew organic coffee, and I like it so much better than a coffee machine that pushes piping hot water through plastic. The top pour part has some plastic, but the hot part of the process happens all in glass and stainless steel.
TIP: I make my coffee in bulk: two full French presses, poured into a big mason jar and a small one. It lasts a while, so I don’t have to make it every day. When I have extra coffee left over, I pour some into my green or white tea, and that’s another way to make a cofftea!
